aequum CEO Christine Cooper Wins TITAN Woman in Business Award

The TITAN Women In Business Awards annually celebrates the achievements of women who are making a significant contribution in various industries and professions, from accomplished executives to rising entrepreneurs, who demonstrate exceptional innovation, excellence, and leadership in their respective fields. Through its partnership with the International Awards Associate (IAA), this esteemed competition has captured the attention of the international community with over hundreds of exceptional entries from more than 25 countries worldwide.

Among this year’s TITAN Gold Winners, Christine Cooper, CEO of aequum, is named Female Entrepreneur of the Year in the Woman Leadership of the Year (Business < 5 Years) category.

“It is honor to be selected from among so many deserving and accomplished women nominated for this prestigious award,” says Cooper. “I am immensely proud of the aequum team and what we have achieved together that has made a positive impact on our industry by leveling the playing field for those challenged by the complexities of medical billing.”

In recognition of the importance of impartiality and diverse perspectives in the evaluation process, the competition prioritizes excellence and has assembled a distinguished jury panel of accomplished professionals. These jurors hail from esteemed organizations, including Krithika Chandramouli (Meta), Pranjali Ganoo (Google), Deepa Venkatrao (IQVIA), Niculut Violeta (Anchor Grup), Sherilyn Kamga (Talend), and several other outstanding individuals. By bringing together such a distinguished panel of experts, the competition ensures that only the most deserving submissions are recognized for their excellence, under the implementations of blind judging.

“TITANs have shown that their success stories are a testament to the power of perseverance and the drive to achieve excellence,” says Thomas Brandt, spokesperson of IAA. “Their contributions have been invaluable in propelling their respective organizations forward and serving as a driving force in their industries, inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.”

Christine’s success story begins in 2000 when she co-founded aequum, meaning “what is fair and just,” based on her strategic vision of establishing a first-of-its kind tech-driven company that protects and defends clients against unreasonable medical charges, balance billing and overpayment. Under her leadership, aequum has acted on behalf of 425 self-insured health plan sponsors and their participants to date, having successfully resolved over 10,000 claims for more than 5,000 member patients – saving a total of nearly $40 million.

Market receptivity for aequum is palpable. Christine’s efforts have truly been game changing. Her industry leadership awards and recognitions are generating high-profile market positioning for aequum and is advancing her to national recognition as a highly sought-after speaker at national and regional trade and association meetings. Christine also contributes as an expert media source for industry insight and commentary among trade journals, industry newsletters and mainstream news outlets, such as USA Today, Bloomberg News and Bloomberg Law.

aequum’s success is attributed to Christine and her team taking strategic action to ensure clients incorporate the most effective tools and resources to achieve the right balance between a benefit package that is both adequate and affordable yet financially sustainable. During these economically challenging times, Cooper recommends plan sponsors and administrators focus on helping plan participants build savings rather than purchase more costly insurance as part of a ’health and wealth’ strategy that optimizes both savings and financial preparedness.
